Whenever I mention a Place to Eat often, people assume I’m being sarcastic and being indecisive of where to eat dinner at, but there is a restaurant called A Place to Eat. When I first heard of the name, my friend and I thought our friends were playing a joke with us. When the time came to go to the place to eat, well we walked up and read the sign. The sign says, "A Place to Eat" which is a unique name to give well a place to eat. The menu had a familiarity with the food but had a different approach to local foods. The first bite that I had was their island karaage, and I was not disappointed. I could not get over the amount of flavor that was in the chicken. The ketchup was the best that I have had. My friends order different entrees, and just taking little bits here and there. One friend had ordered the Sweet Bun Sliders. The Sweet Bun Sliders are two small burgers and with an order of sweet potato fries. These burgers have taro bread, and cheese in the burger. The sweet potato fries have a proper layer of salty but without pushing the limit of being overbearing. Another had ordered the Kalua Pig Quesadilla. Many would think that those two kinds of foods would not mix well. Surprisingly, this does. The Kalua Pig Quesadilla comes with creamy avocado sauce, which I recommend trying with the quesadilla. The creamy avocado sauce compliments the quesadilla very well and is home made. The Adobo Sea Scallops explodes flavor in your mouth, and the serving size of the scallops are on the bigger size. The sauce is a creamy sauce with sauteed mushrooms. The scallops are served on top of rice that completes the meal. The best part is that we were able to bring our drinks, or there's choice of buying drinks there as well. A Place to Eat also has a water jug, where you can get free water. The dessert that we ordered was their oreo sandwich. This Oreo sandwich is not for those that want a small dessert. This dessert is pretty big, and it has two large chocolate cookies that sandwiched the cookie ice cream in the middle. On top of this ice cream sandwich is covered with melted chocolate. This sandwich is just amazing, and each bite gets better and better until it's all gone. My first trip there was a few years ago, but I still continue to go to this spot because the food is just overall fantastic. I try to go at least once every week or every two weeks to try different items on the menu. A Place to Eat has a great mixture of comfort food mixed with a modern touch to it. The hours are flexible for those that enjoy an early lunch to a late lunch or for those that only have time to eat late at night to grab a bite. The location is near the campus of the University of Hawaii at Manoa, so it's common to see many of the students eat dinner there. The inside of the restaurant is not too big, but not small either. The furniture is simple black chairs and tables with hints of silver to accent it. The counter has a little lego figurine that sits there, and the artwork is a mixture of home-made or gifted. The fridge has a Batman lunchbox on top of it and a few other random items that give the place it's personality. Whenever walking into the establishment, it feels very homey. The waitresses are very kind, informative, and talkative. They try to make sure that your visit there is a good one. The chef, Willu Diaz, also just known as Will is very friendly. When he is not in the back cooking, he will be in the first of the restaurant and check in with the customers to see if they are enjoying the food or would be talking stories with the regulars. Once you become a regular, he remembers who you are and often what you usually order for dinner. The food is often made very quickly and comes in a styrofoam box which makes it simple to take the food home for taking out. If you need a bag for your box, they offer bags to take your takeout in. Utensils are given wrapped in the napkin that contains a knife and fork. The serving size is very generous for the cost of the food, and the amount the customer receives is ridiculous. If you don't want or don't have the time to sit down and eat, they also do take out. There are two options of taking out either you could call ahead to place the order or when getting to the location order and they will ask if you want to eat there or for taking out. Often, I go here for I'm starving, or I take half of my plate home to eat for the next day. Will had added this new dessert a while back called, "Cheesecake Bites." These cost nine dollars but are worth every penny. Each bite is fried, it has a crunchy outside, but the inside has a cheesecake filling. It is also served with ice cream that is covered with melted milk chocolate with a serving of strawberries. This dessert has become my newest favorite, but the oreo sandwich will always be a classic. The bread pudding is just as good, but is more for the older crowd. A Place to Eat also offers catering services and is pretty flexible as long as you give a minimum of a day or two days notice.  A Place to Eat overall is a great location for many different types of people, and the food is simply divine.
