Hokkaido ramen santouka

I fell in love with this place as soon as I tasted their kara miso chashu ramen. Located inside Don Quijote parking lot and next to “AAA Local BBQ” Hokkaido Ramen is a small ramen shop that provide Hokkaido style Ramen. During the weekend it can sometimes be rough getting seated. The longest time I had to wait was 15-20minutes, but during the weekday I get seated really easily. The parking lot is a good size where it was never too difficult to find parking unless Don Quijote is very busy in which case I would have to park across the parking lot which honestly isn’t that far.
When I walked in, I was greeted by the traditional Japanese welcome and got the option of seating on the bar side or the table side. I feel like the bar seats are nice and spacious while the table side/bench side are a little tight, so I recommend seating on the bar side. By siting on the bar side you have the view of watching the chiefs work. There is a glass in front of you where the cooks make and dish the meals. The first night, was really cold, so I wanted to eat something brothy, hot, and spicy and finally decided to get the small side Kara Miso Chashu Ramen. After about seven minutes the ramen came out steaming on top of a wooden bowl to protect the table from the heat of the ramen bowl. The broth was piping hot which I’m happy about. I hate lukewarm ramen. The broth was well spiced, salty, and very creamy. It came with several bamboo shoots, mushrooms and green onion. The noodles were el dente and hearty. The noodles and the broth well compliments each other. I do warn that the broth is very salty and creamy that I most often crave ice cream right after. Not to say that it’s a bad thing, I love the creamy broth. After paying the meal, I left the restaurant very satisfied.
