Diamond Head Cove Health Bar is a small shop known for their Acai bowls. Being new to the Acai scene, I was recommended to begin my experience at this store located at the base of Diamond Head. The bar does get crowded at times due to many locals and tourists getting word of it. The parking lot can get packed quickly and there are very few street parking spaces. Fortunately I was able to get in just as it was starting to pick up. Inside the bar had an island feel with numerous pictures of the ocean and ocean life. It was a relaxing atmosphere with chilled out music playing and many other people sitting and chatting with each other over their bowls. Behind the counter there were a few staff members preparing the food and it did get backed up quickly with only 2 staff members running it. I tried out the Mana Bowl, which is the large size of their Acai bowl coming out to around a cool $9.25. The bowl, or cup in case you take out like I did, is arranged artistically and is packed full with fruit. It contained a healthy serving of Acai combined with blueberries, strawberries, banana, granola, honey, and interestingly enough bee pollen. My first impression was that it was refreshing and a pleasant blend of fruit. It was not overly sweet as I had anticipated from its appearance and each bite was different. The Acai fruit was new to me and it was wonderful. It complimented the other fruits and was a bit tart. The mix did make me crave more and I was able to completely finish it all in one go. I would definitely come back to try one of the other bowls or smoothies. The Diamond Head Cove Health Bar is a great starting point for those new to Acai bowls but also a recommended destination for those that are Acai bowl fanatics.
