As I have been going to Giovanni’s for many years, this is a place you cannot miss. Whether you are from Oahu or just visiting Giovanni’s this the place to be. Their  mouthwatering garlic shrimp will make you keep coming back for more. Giovanni’s will always be my favorite  because their shrimp is out of this world good. The staff is very friendly and they are always welcoming to serve you (even though they are a food truck).

My favorite is the Shrimp scampi, which includes a dozen shrimp that is simply soaked in olive oil, lemon butter and fresh garlic. The shrimp is sautéed and served with caramelized garlic and drizzled with the garlic lemon butter with two scopes of rice. 

History

As a daily customer I have always wondered how did this astonishing food truck begin?

It all began from a 1953 bread truck in which they converted into a shrimp truck. At first they would drive around North Shore and stop on the side of the road to share their amazing food. During 1993, Giovanni’s was the only food truck on Oahu. 

What’s the significance of the tagging on the truck?

One day Ed Hernandez from El Paso, Texas had a pen and he wanted to leave a mark on the Shrimp truck. After they closed, the employees saw his signature and they decided to keep it. The next day there were more signatures and pictures on the shrimp truck. After the day Hernandez left his mark on the truck, this led to thousands of signatures and pictures of customers who continue to leave their mark on the shrimp truck today.

Giovanni’s menu is very straightforward as the Shrimp Scampi is the most popular item on the menu.

The “no refunds” hot and spicy shrimp includes a warning where this shrimp is very spicy. A dozen Juicy shrimp served with delicious red fiery hot sauce with two scopes of rice. This scrumptious hot and spicy shrimp is mouth blistering hot but it’s finger-licking good.

When you know there is a combination of lemon and butter, you know it’s going to be good. Giovanni’s lemon button shrimp is sautéed and served with this creamy lemon, butter sauce and two scopes of rice. Personally, when I am craving lemon and butter, this delectable shrimp satisfies my cravings.
